Scout Hut Appeal

Our Scout Hut

We have been based in our Scout HQ on Church End since we were founded in 1911. However, we have had to move out of our HQ into the Meritage Centre across the road as our building (which was built in the 1800’s) is no longer safe to use. What's more, documents from Barnet Council tell us they've been quietly planning to develop the Meritage Centre into flats, so this is crucial for both the future of 8th Hendon, and the local community.

We are currently fundraising to rebuild our Scout HQ into a hall that will suit the groups current needs and those of future generations. You can view all our Planning Documents (such as floor-plans, proposals, and planning permission) on a separate page.

We need your support to do this — find out more about how to donate or volunteer your time below

Volunteering Your Time

They say your time is the greatest gift you can give! We need volunteers to help us with everything from fundraising, to planning and building.

Fundraising Jobs include: running the weekly tuck shop, applying for grants, contacting local businesses, and suggesting other ideas.

Planning & Building Jobs include: liaising with Council Planning Teams, clearing the current hut and garden, and contacting different building companies.

If you are a parent or young person at 8th Hendon, and are willing to volunteer, please speak to a leader on a Friday evening, If you are not currently directly involved with 8th Hendon, and are willing to volunteer, please contact us by pressing the button below.
